Simon Birmingham announces $24m in scholarships for South Australians to re-skill

MORE than 1000 South Australians will be eligible to receive a $17,500 scholarship to study in a field with a skills shortage.
Education Minister Simon Birmingham will today announce details of the $24 million scheme which will fund 1200 scholarships for study, training and internships in areas such as the defence industry, advanced manufacturing and health. Latest figures reveal there were almost 3000 jobs available in SA priority industries.In is speech he said "we are backing south Australian youth to get to the level they want.the schorlaship will only be available for few courses.These include those in areas considered “priority industries” for SA such as defence and naval shipbuilding, advanced manufacturing, health services, medical research, wine and food, energy and tourism.Study for architecture, child care and motor mechanics is also eligible.Applications would also be accepted from students who work for businesses with innovative practices that result in economic growth which could be leveraged through study.More information can be found at www.commonwealth-scholarships-sa.com.au and applications close on October 25.
