Conor McGregor tells Floyd Mayweather to 'have a great retirement'
Floyd Mayweather shut down talk of another showdown with Conor McGregor and the Irishman was quick to respond.
The
pair had been tipped throw down once again, this time in an MMA
octagon, but Mayweather dismissed the speculation, saying 'I already
beat Conor' while at a basketball match on Saturday.
And
McGregor has hit back, telling the boxing icon to enjoy retirement as
he focuses on the next step in his combat sports career.
'I am happy for Floyd and his recent
announcement that he is out of these current fight negotiations,' the
UFC star wrote alongside a picture from his boxing match with Mayweather
back in August.
'It is the reason I never seeked the rematch in the first place. I was happy for him in retirement.
'My
game is a very unforgiving one. It is not like other games. I
understand completely him staying retired. I will now carry on in my
negotiations and see where it goes.
'Have
a great retirement Junior. Now come here and give your old man a hug
for old times sake. I'm proud of you son. Yours truly, Senior.'
McGregor has returned to regular training and looks set to make his UFC comeback this year.
