The Defence Headquarters has denied media reports that it had stopped
the admission of female cadets into its academy. On Monday, November
13th, there were reports that the defense headquarters had terminated
the admission of female cadets. The reports alleged that the service
chiefs in a meeting with President Buhari last week, recommended that
female cadets should no longer be admitted into the defence academy. The
reports alleged that the recommendations were based on the opinions of
some Muslim clerics that women should not be trained in rigorous
activities by men.
